Agrigento, Girgenti, Kerkent, Agrigentum, Akragas... the town Pindar told it was one of the most magnificent within the cities built by the mortals has a rather long history. Today Agrigento is only the shadow of the ancient Akragas, the city of the mammoth walls rich of ten temples on a 720 hectare wide territory. But, like it was for Empedocles, Agrigento has been Pirandello's fatherland, him the author whose opera is the most played in the world and even the most translated, him Nobel price for literature in late 1924.

The famous dancing satyr recovered in waters of Mazzara del Vallo in year 1998 is turned back in Sicily after its roman vacations. Regenerating vacation indeed that has freed it of the insults of the centuries passed in the sea. The Museum consecrated entirely to the satyr is the evocative deconsecrated church of Sant' Egidio. |

No real demanding research has been done there since Paolo Orsi came in the 30's. The site is almost neglected even if in a splendid breathtaking position. Museum in Enna show some material to testify the site through various periods, from the first Copper age untill the Bronze age and at last an indigenous habitat influenced by the first Greeks in Sicily... |
